Maxwell Hill

Maxwell Hill or Bukit Larut is located in Taiping. It is above 1200m about sea level. The hill is one of the earliest hill resort in Malaysia and it was developed in 1888 by the Perak Gabenor of English, Mr Maxwell. The 13km tar road for jeep lead to the summit was built in 1948. The transport to the summit is only by jeep and the fare is quite reasonable that is only RM6 for two ways. The narrow and winding road is only allowed a jeep to pass through by a time so one of the jeep either from the summit or bottom must wait at the km6 because it is the only place allow two jeeps.
There are about 10 bungalows from government and private sector on the summit for rent. The tourists can get the information about the bungalow from the ticket office at the bottom. There are also a cafe, a watch tower and a hanging bridge found on the summit. If you are a nature lover than Maxwell Hill is an interesting place for you otherwise you will find it quite boring.
