Berembun Waterfall

Berembun Waterfall is located in Sungai Klau, Raub, Pahang. It is about 30km from Raub town centre. Fourteen of us have rented two four wheel drive to take us to the waterfall. It is about 13km from the main road and the journey took us 40 minutes.

We can see many farm on both side of the road for about 3km. The plants planted are papayas, oil palms, Rubber tree etc. After the farm, the road become bumpy. According to our driver, this path was opened by the logging company many years ago. It only allows a car to go through in a time.

I felt a bit disappointed because some part of the path have been covered with cement and become less challenging. Luckily the driver promised to use some old path to make us felt excited. Before we reached the destination, the driver make many of us screamed because he drive through a slope then went into a big hole. This make us felt that the four wheel drive was going to overturn.
Lastly, we have to walk for about 5 minutes to reach the waterfall. Due to shortage of time, we only managed to played and swam at the first pool. The driver said that there are another bigger pool at the higher place but we have to hike for about one hour and some of the part also dangerous.

All of us promised to visit and camp at the waterfall next year.

Ginting Hill, Balik Pulau

Ginting is a small village about 3km from Balik Pulau. The majority of the inhabitants there are Malay. Ginting Hill is actually quite low once can reach the summit in about half an hour time.

Many people go to Ginting Hill actually are not for hiking but to have a big feast there. There is a Thai Restaurant on the summit. For me the food there is normal and the price is not so cheap too. But, why many people still like to have either their lunch or dinner there? That is because the environment. It really a good place to take your meal because you have a chance to see the sun-set and the view is really beautiful. There are many animals statues that make the place looks like a park. We can see paddy field and Betong Island from here too.

For those who like privacy can reserve a small hut that can occupy only you and your friends only. You can do whatever you like and never disturb others. It is easy to get there because there is a cement road that allow vehicle to reach the summit.

Penang National Park

Penang National Park is the smallest National Park in Malaysia. It covers from Teluk Bahang to Pantai Acheh in Balik Pulau. Five of us explored the National Park some times ago. Our destination was Teluk Ketapang. Before we reached the destination, we had a rest at Muka Head. It is quite a famous beach as many students like to camp here during school holidays. It is nothing special from Teluk Bahang Entrance to Muka Head.

We saw many floras after Muka Head. As I am not a specialist in plants so can't tell you the name of all the floras that I saw. Frank to say that although I always go hiking and jungle explore but I never saw any special animals except squirrels, birds, monkeys etc. I was so lucky in this trip because we met a python. One of our friends was almost stepped on the head of it. As the python blocked our way so we had to look for other route.
