Mount Kinabalu, Sabah

I heard about Mount Kinabalu when I was in primary school and I started to hike when I was in secondary school. But all my hikes were only either Ayer Itam Dam or Penang Hill. To Hike Mount Kinabalu it only an unfulfillable dream for me.

After knowing a few friends who like to hike, my life change. My hikes were not only Ayer Itam Dam and Pg Hill but every part of Penang. Sometimes we even went others state like Kelantan, Kedah, Johor etc just for hiking.
Two years ago, my Mount Kinabalu dream came true. Eleven of us reached the summit
successfully. And I used only less than 4 hours from Timpohon Gate(starting point) to reach Laban Rata(3290m). The path to Laban Rata is not difficult for me but the rocks all the way really made my feet pain. On the way I saw beautiful birds, animals etc.

The next morning, we had to wake up at 1.30am as the hike was started at 2.30am. I still remembered the temperature at that time is 4 degree celcius. As the hikers were too many so the traffic was jammed and you didn't have any change to overtook others at beginning. As everybody had a torchlight on so it looked like a dragon. Lastly I arrived the summit(4098m) at about 6am. From there I can see the sunrise. The view was really breathtaking. We stayed at the summit for only about one hour walked around and took photographs.

For me, I felt that it is not difficult to climb the mountain. But it was a nightmare to do the downhill. The small rocks all the way make my foot pain and I can't walk for almost three days after the hike.

For those who can hike up Penang Hill using the tar road means you are qualified to hike Mount Kinabalu. It really fun. So, action now.
