Junk Food sold in the market

Balik Pulau is a town about 26km away from Georgetown. It is located in the district of southwest. About ten years ago, Balik Pulau still a small town and many of the houses here still made of wood or prewar building. But, it changes rapidly in these few years as the population increase rapidly. New market, bus termianl, new housing estates and other facilities are building up everywhere especially in the town centre.

When you talk about Balik Pulau to others state of people, many of them will think about durian(The King of food). Right, Balik Pulau is famous with durins. But, besides durians,
there are many others famous local fruit such as rambutas, mangoes, langsat, cardamom etc.
Pasembor and Laksa are two local speciality sold there.

New and Modern Bus Terminal

From here, we can go to Titi Kerawang Waterfall(about 10km away), Pulau Betong(about 7km) and Kuala Sungai Pinang(about6km). For those who like fishing, Pulau Betong is suitable for them.

How long it takes to hike from Air Itam Dam to Balik Pulau Market? Do you have any photo for the route? I haven't had a chance to try out the route yet.

Sorry, I am not very sure because the last time I hike was about 4 years ago. Now I only cycle there. It takes about 1 hour and 10 minuts from Kek lok Si temple until the market.
